Gratinated king crab and mussels

Gratinated king crab and mussels

The fantastic finger food dish when you want to seduce your husband, wife, your most loved or just your friends...

 

What you need:

  • king crab ( 6 legs will do it )

  • 1 kg  mussels

  • garlic

  • parsley

  • shallots

  • butter

  • olive oil

  • white wine

  • smoked paprika

  • turmeric

  • pepper corns

  • grated parmesan cheese

  • Panko bread crumble

  • good bread

  • good friends

 

Prepping:

King crab...

  • Bring a large pot of water to boil with about 2 tsp. salt per liters of water and a few bay leaves.

  • Boil the king crab for about 10 min.

  • Take legs up and cool down in cold water.

  • Cut the shell with a scissor and carefully remove the meat.

  • Remember to remove also the thin leg piece sitting in the middle of the meat.

  • Place the meat on a piece of kitchen roll and cover with foil.

  • Put in refrigerator.

  • Remember to save all the shells for later (clean them)

Mussels...

  • Clean muscle under cold water

  • Discard mussels that are open or broken

  • Chop one shallot

  • Chop 2 garlic cloves

  • Put a large pot on max heat

  • Add some olive oil

  • Add shallots, pepper corns and garlic

  • Fry for 2 min.

  • Add 2-3 dl white wine

  • Bring to a boil

  • Add mussels

  • Boil for 5 min

  • Add mussels into a strainer ( save the mussle stock for any good soup etc.)

  • Remove the mussels from the shells ( save the shells for the gratinating)

  • Clean the shells

Gratinating butter for king crab:

  • some butter

  • some chopped parsley

  • some squeezed garlic

  • mix with a fork

Gratinating butter for mussels:

  • some butter

  • some chopped parsley

  • some squeezed garlic

  • turmeric

  • smoked paprika

  • mix with a fork

Method:

  • Place the king crab meat in the cleaned king crab shells

  • Add plenty of butter mixture

  • Place mussels in the cleaned shells

  • Add plenty of butter mixture

  • Add little grated Parmesan cheese

  • Add little Panko bread crumble

  • Gratinate under grill temp. in oven until light brown

  • Arrange on a plate or cutting board

  • Drizzle with olive oil

  • Drizzle with chopped parsley

  • Serve with good bread

  • Drink some good white wine

  • Enjoy...
